What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children with autism build communication, learning, social, and daily-living skills. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assesses your child, designs an individualized plan, and oversees a trained team that works one-on-one with your child — measuring progress every step and adjusting as your child grows.

How ABA works at Highview

What to expect from our process

1

Assessment

Your BCBA gets to know your child and identifies the skills and goals that matter most.

2

An individualized plan

A program is built from that assessment, with clear, measurable goals.

3

One-on-one therapy

Trained technicians work directly with your child, supervised by your BCBA.

4

Parent partnership

We coach you so skills carry over into daily life.

5

Data and honest updates

We track progress and tell you plainly how it's going.

Where we provide therapy

We offer three settings so therapy fits your family's life.

1) In-home ABA therapy

What does in-home ABA therapy involve?

In-home ABA brings therapy into your child's natural environment — your home. Skills like communication, following routines, play, and managing big feelings are practiced where they actually happen. Parents are coached as partners, so progress continues between sessions.

Best for: younger children, families who prefer convenience, generalizing skills to real routines.

2) Center-based ABA therapy

What does center-based ABA therapy involve?

Center-based ABA gives your child a structured, low-distraction space to focus on building specific skills. Our locations are designed for learning, with room to practice social interaction in a controlled setting before carrying those skills into the wider world.

Best for: focused skill acquisition, social practice, families who prefer a dedicated therapy space.

3) School-based ABA therapy

Do you provide ABA therapy in schools?

Yes — we provide school-based ABA in partnership with private and parochial schools across New Jersey. When a child needs behavioral support to access learning, our BCBA-supervised team works directly with teachers and school staff.

Best for: children who need help learning skills and generalizing in a school-based setting.

A note we believe in being upfront about

School-based ABA is a clinical service, not a substitute for an educational aide, and insurers (especially NJ FamilyCare) will often not approve services in a school setting. We'll always tell you honestly what your plan covers.
